Computer History

Since data processing was done by humans. Humans also find tools for mechanical and electronic equipment to help people in the calculation and data processing that can get results more quickly. Computers that we meet at this time is a long evolution from the invention of the old form of mechanical or electronic equipment.
Currently, computers and supporting tools have been included in every aspect of life and work. Computers that have the ability now has more than just regular math calculations. Among them is a computer system at the supermarket kassa able to read the code of goods shopping, telephone exchange that handles millions of calls and communications, computer network and internet connecting many various places in the world.
However from the data processing equipment since ancient times until now we can grade into 4 major groups.

1. Equipment manual: data processing equipment that is a very simple, and most important factor in the tool is to use human energy
2. Mechanical equipment: the equipment that has been shaped driven with a mechanical hand manually
3. Mechanical equipment Electronics: the equipment driven by a mechanical automatically by motor electronic
4. Electronic equipment: Tools of the electronic full gear

This will give you a history of the computer from time to time, especially on the means of processing the data 2, 3, and 4. Classification of computer-based generation will also be discussed fully in this paper.

Start the computer that actually began to be formed by seoarang English mathematics professor, Charles Babbage (1791-1871). Year 1812, Babbage consider the suitability of the machine mechanics and mathematics: mechanical engine is very good in working on the same task repeatedly without error; require mathematics are simple repetition of a certain steps.
The problem is to place kemudain developing engine mechanics as a tool to answer the needs of mechanics. Babbage's first effort to address this issue appear on year in 1822 when he proposed a machine to do the calculation of differensil. Engine is called Engine Differensial. By using steam power, machine can save the program and can perform calculations and print the results automatically. After working with the machine Differensial for ten years, Babbage was suddenly inspired to start making general-purpose computer first, called the Analytical Engine. Assistant Babbage, Augusta Ada King (1815-1842) has an important role in making this machine. He helped revise the plan, seek funding from the UK government, and communicate Anlytical engine specifications to the public. In addition, a good understanding about Augusta this machine allow making instructions to be included dlam machine and also make them become the first woman programmer. In 1980, the U.S. Defense Department named a programming language with the ADA as a tribute to him.

First generation computer

With the occurrence of the Second World War, countries that are involved in the war are trying to develop computer mengeksploit strategic potential of the computer. This funding increase and accelerate development progress in computer engineering computer. In the year 1941, Konrad Zuse, a German engineer to build a computer, the Z3, to design aircraft and guided missile.

Second-generation computer

In the year 1948, the invention of the transistor influence the computer. Transistors replaced vacuum cleaner in the tube television, radio, and computers. As a result, the size of electrical machinery decreased dramatically.

Third generation

Although the transistor in many cases surpass vacuum cleaner tube, but the transistor produces a large amount of heat, which can potentially damage the internal parts of the computer. Quartz stone (quartz rock) eliminate this problem. Jack Kilby, an engineer at Texas Instrument, to develop integrated circuits (IC: integrated circuit) in the year 1958. IC combines three electronic components
in a small Silicon plate made of quartz sand. In the scientists and successfully enter more components into a single chip called a semiconductor. The result, computers become increasingly smaller as the components can compacting in the chip. The progress of the third generation of computers is the use of other operating systems (operating system) that allows the engine to run many different programs simultaneously with a major program to monitor and coordinate the computer memory.

Fourth-generation computer

After IC, the development becomes more clear: decrease the size of circuits and electrical components. Large Scale Integration (LSI) can contain hundreds of components in a chip. in 1980, Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) to load thousands of components in a single chip.

Fifth generation computer

Defining a fifth-generation computer hard enough because this stage is very young imaginative. The sample of fifth generation computer is a computer HAL9000 fiction novel of the works of Arthur C. Clarke, entitled 2001: Space Odyssey. HAL displays all the desired function from a fifth-generation computer. With artificial intelligence (artificial intelligence), HAL have enough memory to do with human conversation, using visual feedback, and learn from own experiences.

Almost all aspects of human life at this time can not be released from the technology, especially computer technology. Can be seen that, to write a document, people have tended to leave the manual typewriter and has been replaced by computer role. Cashier at a large shopping (supermarkets) are using the automated form of computer equipment designed specifically for such purpose. Collection of songs that could previously only be heard through the media tapes or record, at this time was already started in the form of compact disk (CD) that can be heard using the multimedia computer. Not to mention the development of computer technology in the health sector which advanced very rapidly to help the diagnosis of disease and the process treatment. And many more areas of human life is at this time is to use computer equipment.
